Who's Your Momma?

In New Orleans the joke was that the only questions that mattered were: Who's Your Momma? Are you Catholic? and Can you make a Roux?

As I travel through Spain, I have been blessed to see and reflect upon many different images of Mary. Some of them have been modern and some have been as old as the 12th century.

All of the images have something to say and they invite us to see in Mary an image of love, openness and willingness. Take some time to think about the image of Mary that speaks to you. Why are you drawn to it and what is it saying to you?

The image I have enjoyed the most so far is one I saw in the Diocesan museum in Pamplona. In it Mary seems to be grinning as if someone just told her a joke. She is holding Jesus in her lap and you can tell that she understands the incredible gift that has been given to her and the world.

I offer you some of the images.
